Becoming the Expert
What is ‘Becoming the Expert’?
Through the Mining Your Life Experiences exercises, you uncovered the strengths, interests and defining moments that have shaped who you are today. These reflections gave you valuable insights into what drives you and what you have to offer. Now, it’s time to take the next step: building on your discoveries and exploring how these can position you as an expert in your chosen field.
The idea is simple: when you start sharing your thoughts on topics that genuinely excite you, you build visibility. Over time, that visibility helps you stand out and become known for your insights. It was after all, the thing that helped our co-founder Solai gain recognition as an investor in the startup and venture communities.
Now, don’t worry - it’s not about pretending to be an expert overnight. It’s about showing up consistently, sharing what you know, and learning along the way.
Becoming the Expert is about taking what you’re curious or passionate about and turning it into something bigger: a body of work that reflects your interests, sharpens your skills, and gives you a voice in the areas that matter most to you.
Why 'Becoming the Expert’?
Becoming an expert doesn’t happen in an instant - it’s a process! But it’s one that is worth the time and effort.
When you you dive deep into a topic, learn about it, and share what you’ve discovered, a few powerful things start to happen:
You build credibility.
You attract opportunities that align with your passions.
You create momentum for yourself -whether that is a platform, a career path, or something bigger.
We have created a series of exercises to guide you on this journey:
Writing style: Experiment with your voice and explore what makes your writing uniquely yours.
Topic list: Take a deep dive into one of your interests and unearth your curiosity.
The 3 Draft Method: Refine your process.
Publish: Get your work out into the world
Getting started
This isn’t about perfection or waiting until you feel ‘ready’. It’s about starting with where you are, and letting that evolve over time.
As with previous sections, we recommend doing these exercises in sequence, as each build as on the last.
Your first exercise is Writing Style.
